Initial Assessment and Planning

Before starting a floor demolition project, it’s important to check the current flooring. This includes figuring out the flooring type, looking for damage underneath, measuring moisture, and deciding how to get rid of old materials. Good planning makes the demolition and preparation safe and easy.

Safety Precautions

Floor removal can be risky because of dust, debris, sharp things, and noise. Workers need goggles, masks, ear protectors, gloves, and sturdy shoes. Keeping the space aired out and clean helps prevent accidents and makes it safer.

Removal of Existing Flooring

The way we remove floors is different for each type (hardwood, carpet, vinyl, etc.). You might need tools like scrapers, chisels, or electric removers. Using the right way helps take out the floor without damage to the subfloor.

Subfloor Inspection

After removing the old flooring, check the subfloor. Make sure it’s strong and has no water damage, uneven spots, mold, or pests. Fix any problems before starting installation to avoid future issues.
